Read this properly. It is not a formality. It sets out the risks you are taking on, what We expect of you before you turn a wheel, and the limits of Our responsibility. You accept it when you book, and it applies every time you ride with Us.
This Rider Waiver and Assumption of Risk is between you and GOT Events FZ LLE, Creative Tower, P.O. Box 4422, Fujairah, United Arab Emirates ("GOT", "We", "Us", "Our"). It forms part of the Terms of Service.
Where it applies
To every activity We organise, list, lead, promote or host, paid or free. That includes open rides, member rides, training sessions and workshops, tours in the UAE and abroad, navigation challenges, races and rally events, social gatherings with a riding element, and any ride arranged through Our app or community groups.
It applies whether you ride your own bike or one you have hired or borrowed, whether or not a ride leader is present, and whether or not you paid to be there.
1. The risks you are accepting
Offroad motorcycling is dangerous. It carries a real risk of serious injury, permanent disability and death. No level of skill, training, gear, planning or leadership removes that risk. You are choosing to take it on.
The risks include, and are not limited to:
- Loss of control, crashes, falls, collisions with other riders, vehicles, animals, obstacles or terrain
- Sand, rock, gravel, wadi beds, dunes, drop-offs, loose surfaces, hidden holes and washouts, sudden terrain changes and unmarked hazards
- Flash flooding, sandstorms, extreme heat, dehydration, heat exhaustion and heat stroke
- Mechanical failure, tyre failure, brake failure, running out of fuel or water
- Navigation error, separation from the group, and becoming lost in remote terrain
- Riding on or crossing public roads and tracks used by other vehicles, pedestrians and animals
- Remote locations with no mobile coverage, where evacuation and medical help may be hours away or unavailable, and where a rescue may itself be dangerous or delayed
- The acts, errors, inexperience or negligence of other riders, including riders in your own group
- Damage to, loss of or theft of your motorcycle, gear, vehicle and belongings
- Fines, penalties and legal consequences from access, permit or traffic matters
You accept all of these risks, known and unknown, and you accept them for yourself and for anyone riding with you at your invitation.
2. What you confirm
Each time you take part, you confirm that:
- You hold a valid, current licence for the motorcycle you are riding, in the country you are riding in.
- You are physically and mentally fit to ride the distance, terrain and conditions of the activity you have booked.
- You are not under the influence of alcohol, or of any drug or medication that affects your judgement, reaction time, balance or vision. Alcohol and riding do not mix at any GOT activity, and We will send you home for it.
- The riding level you have declared, in the app or to a ride leader, is honest. Where you are unsure, you have declared the lower level.
- You have told Us about any medical condition, allergy or medication that a first responder would need to know about, and your emergency contact details in the app are current and correct.
- You understand that a ride can be harder than advertised, that conditions change, and that you are responsible for deciding whether to continue or turn back.
- You have read the Terms of Service and the Privacy Policy.
3. Bike and gear
Turning up properly prepared is your responsibility, not the ride leader's.
- Your bike must be roadworthy and mechanically sound: tyres, brakes, chain, controls, lights and fluids in good order, no fuel or oil leaks, and registered and insured as the law requires.
- Mandatory gear: a helmet in good condition, eye protection, gloves, and boots that cover and support the ankle.
- Expected gear for offroad: body armour or a protective jacket, knee protection, and clothing suited to the conditions. For longer and remote rides, add water, a basic tool kit, tyre repair, a tow strap and a means of navigation.
- A ride leader or coach can inspect your bike and gear, and can refuse you the ride if either is not up to the activity. That decision is final and no refund is due.
- You are responsible for your own fuel range, water and food for the day, and for telling someone not on the ride where you are going.
4. Riding with the group
Group riding only works if everyone plays their part.
- Follow the ride leader's instructions and the briefing given before the ride. If you did not hear the briefing, ask.
- Do not overtake the leader, do not drop the rider behind you, and wait at junctions and splits until the rider behind you is visible.
- Tell a leader or sweep before you leave the group for any reason. Riders who leave without telling anyone trigger searches that put others at risk.
- Ride within your own limits, not the group's pace. Nobody is judging you for going slower. Trying to keep up is how people get hurt.
- Stop and help if you come upon an incident, and report it to the ride leader.
- Ride leaders, sweeps and coaches are experienced volunteers or contractors, not emergency services, professional guides, mechanics or medics. They do their best for the group. They do not guarantee your safety, your recovery, or the condition of the route, and they are not responsible for your riding decisions.
- A leader can end a ride, change the route, or send an individual rider home at any point, for safety or conduct. Their decision stands.
5. Medical and emergencies
In an emergency, and where you cannot consent for yourself, you authorise Us and anyone assisting to arrange the first aid, medical treatment, evacuation or transport they reasonably judge necessary, and to share your emergency contact and any medical information you gave Us with responders and medical staff.
You are responsible for the cost of any medical treatment, ambulance, air ambulance, hospital stay, repatriation and vehicle recovery, whether or not We arranged it. We do not cover these costs and We do not provide insurance that does.
You will keep your emergency contact up to date in the app. Where an activity requires it, We may ask for additional medical or insurance details before confirming your place.
6. Release and indemnity
To the fullest extent permitted by UAE law:
- You release GOT Events FZ LLE, its owners, directors, staff, ride leaders, sweeps, coaches, volunteers, partners and sponsors from any claim for injury, death, illness, property damage, vehicle damage, loss, theft, cost, fine or penalty arising from your participation in any activity covered by this waiver, or from your use of any route or GPX file.
- You accept that this release covers claims arising from ordinary negligence in the organisation, leading or running of an activity, and from the conduct of other participants.
- You agree to indemnify and hold them harmless against any claim brought by a third party arising from your riding, your conduct, or your breach of this waiver or the Terms of Service.
- You are responsible for any damage you cause to other people, their vehicles, private property, public infrastructure or the environment.
Nothing in this waiver excludes or limits liability where UAE law does not allow it to be excluded or limited. If any part of this section is found unenforceable, the rest remains in force.
7. Insurance
We do not provide insurance of any kind. Not medical, not personal accident, not third-party liability, not vehicle, not travel, not equipment. Membership does not include cover.
Arranging your own cover is your responsibility. Check it carefully: many standard UAE motor and health policies exclude offroad riding, competition, track use, and riding outside the country. For international tours, check that your travel and medical policy covers motorcycling in the destination, including evacuation and repatriation.
8. Riders under 18
Where an activity permits riders under 18, a parent or legal guardian must register the rider, accept this waiver on their behalf, and remain contactable throughout the activity. For most offroad rides the guardian must be present at the event.
By accepting on behalf of a minor, the parent or guardian accepts every term of this waiver for themselves and for the minor, and confirms the minor is capable of the activity and properly equipped for it.
Minimum ages vary by activity and are stated on each listing.
We photograph and film rides, training and events. You agree that We may use images and footage in which you appear to promote GOT, on Our website, app, social channels and in partner and sponsor material, without payment.
If you would rather not appear, tell the ride leader or coach before the activity starts and email admin@getoutthereuae.com. We will do what We reasonably can, though We cannot guarantee removal from every group shot or from footage already published.
10. How you accept this
You accept this waiver when you tick to accept it in the GOT app or on this website at the point of booking, and again by taking part in any activity, whether or not you ticked anything on the day. Your acceptance is recorded against your account.
For some tours, races and partner events We may additionally require a signed paper form or a separate organiser waiver. Where that happens, both apply, and the stricter term governs.
If you do not accept this waiver, do not ride with Us.
